The Official Kappa Olimpia 09/10 Home Soccer Jersey.

You may not have heard of Club Olimpia of Asunción Paraguay, yet they are by no means a small club. They are renowned in South America, mainly in Paraguay, where el Decano has won a whopping 38 First Division titles. Yet, what's more impressive is they have conquered one of the biggest tournaments in World Soccer - the Copa Libertadores - three times, the last one being in 2002 the year the celebrated their 100th anniversary or birthday.

Chelsea 09/10 Third Soccer Jersey

Blues Hoop Dreams

It's been no secret that Chelsea has a big-time NBA superstar as a fan - Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics (who was recently spotted in Pasadena). I doubt that was the reasoning behind having hoops, or horizontal stripes on their white third kit, but thought it an interesting theory nevertheless.

Whatever the thinking behind it, we're sure all Blues fans, and Hoops fans alike, will dig this new jersey design as much as we do!

Man United 09/10 Away Soccer Jersey

The Red Devils Honor Old Trafford

You might have wondered why Manchester United Football Club applied a chevron to their home jersey. Well, we have the answer, courtesy of the launch of their new Official Nike Manchester United 09/10 Away Soccer Jersey.

The shirt is all black, save for the classic chevron design - which honors the kit that Manchester United wore during their first season at Old Trafford - 100 years ago! The chevron, which is the V design, traditionally signifies merit, rank and/or length of service. It is a fitting design for the Premier League champs, as few teams in World Soccer can match their success and tradition, most of which the Red Devils have enjoyed at their home: Old Trafford.

Pumas 09/10 Home Soccer Jersey by PUMA

Seldom does a relationship make as much sense as this one.

Take a look at the brand new ¡PUMA Pumas UNAM 09/10 Jersey de Fútbol Local!

After seven years with Lotto, the team of the Universidad Autónoma de México, and Clausura 2009 winners, now has the shirt sponsor it/they was born to have: PUMA! Feline symmetry. Now, not only does the famous shirt display the big puma head on the front, but also the rubberized world-famous sprinting cat logos, on the shoulders and right chest. The new design includes the upper chest V strip PUMA has fashioned in other top team jerseys, though in this case it matches nicely with the sublimated design and color on the hieroglyphic cat head.

Another interesting tidbit about the Mexican champions: They are one of several top tier professional Mexican soccer clubs to belong to a university, in this case the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the largest university in the country. No other league in the world has anything like this, that we're aware of. It would be akin to having USC play in the NFL or DUKE in the NBA.

World Football Challenge in Atlanta

One of the biggest clubs in World Soccer - AC Milan played Club América last night in a World Football Challenge match in Atlanta, Georgia.

Through our partnership with one of the club, and the fact it's only a few ours away from our Birmingham, Alabama offices, the blog team ventured out to the Georgia Dome to check things out, and give our friends at AC Milan a hand in getting the word out. Despite the fierce mosquitoes, we spent a few hours at the tent (pictured) getting to know some pretty cool football and fútbol fans (one in particular we just had to photograph) as both fans of Milan and América were there well before the match.

The match was fantastic, and we had some pretty good seats (we could even hear the ball hitting the players, or vice-versa; though the vuvuzuelas (fancy word for extremely loud and obnoxious horns) right behind me were ear-splitting. It was great to see so many soccer fans fill the huge dome, nearly to capacity, as the attendance was over 50,000.

In our humble estimation, the crowd was fairly evenly split between Rossoneri & Aguilas fans, though, the Club America fans were more vociferous, as just about every time their team had the ball, they'd chant 'Aguilas, Aguilas', or 'Ole, Ole, Ole!' They were quite pleased when the match ended and their side was ahead, though everyone loudly cheered for the Man of the Match: Milan's famous #80: Ronaldinho.
